Salted Beer Bread

Prep Time: 5-10 minutes

Bake Time: 1 hour

Ingredients

  • 470g all-purpose flour

  • 30g sugar

  • 10g baking powder

  • 8g salt

  • 2 Tbsp honey or agave nectar

  • 1 bottle (12 ounces) beer (lagers work best)

  • 4 Tbsp (half stick) butter, melted

  • Rock Salt

  • Extra stick of butter for pan greasing

Cooking

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.

  2. Grease a 9″ x 5″ inch loaf pan with a cold stick of butter.

  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  4. Using a wooden spoon, stir the beer, and honey into the dry ingredients until just mixed.

  5. Pour half the melted butter into the loaf pan. Then spoon the batter into the pan and pour the rest of the butter on top of the batter.

  6. Sprinkle rock salt on top of the batter.  Add as much or as little as desired.  Start with 1 tbsp and change as desired.  Press the salt into the batter to help it stick.

  7. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, until top is golden brown and a toothpick/knife inserted in the middle comes out clean.

Suggested Serving

  • This is a great breakfast bread.  Toast and serve it with jam.

  • Cut the slices somewhat thick. 1/2 to 3/4 inch slices are heaven.
